San Pedro Chamber and College Engage in 2020 Planning Process

The San Pedro Chamber of Commerce announced the formation of a visioning group tasked with the development of San Pedro 2020 plan for the future. The 2020 Task Force is co-chaired by Dr. Michael Brophy, president, Marymount College and Arley Baker, deputy executive director of communications, Port of Los Angeles and includes community leaders in the non-profit, government, education, retail and property development sectors. This task force’s work will build upon recent positive developments and will make recommendations for the future. Assisting the 2020 Task Force with research are Marymount students and faculty.

To date, the 2020 Task Force is planning to build on significant developments that are already underway such as the Downtown Harbor and Visitor Plaza, the redevelopment of the Ports O’ Call property and the debut of the Marine Research Center at City Dock One.

During the past 15 years the downtown district has seen significant development in community programs, facilities, sustainability “green” initiatives, arts programming, and business innovation.

More information on the San Pedro 2020 vision, will be presented to the Chamber and the community in May 2013.
